National Week of Deaf People 2018

Come and celebrate the community, language, culture and history of South Australia's Deaf Community with us in 2018!

Held annually in September, National Week of Deaf People provides the Deaf community with a weeklong celebration to an opportunity to honour their culture and language as well as raise vital awareness about social inclusivity.

Deaf Community BBQ and Auslan Tours

Enjoy a great day out with other members of the South Australian Deaf Community to kick off a week of celebrations!

The day will feature Auslan guided tours around South Australia’s Museum followed by a delicious sausage sizzle lunch and entertainment on the front lawns.

When: Sunday 23 September
Where: South Australian Museum, North Terrace, Adelaide
Time: 11am - 4pm

Guided Auslan tours of the Museum will run at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Tours have limited spaces available per session. Please register for a tour upon your arrival to secure your spot.

Come and Try Auslan - BOOKED OUT

Introduce yourself to the fascinating language that is Auslan (Australian Sign Language) with our one hour FREE and interactive Auslan sessions!

When: Monday 24 September
Where: Adelaide Festival Centre, King William Street, Adelaide
Time: 10am, 12pm or 5pm

When: Wednesday 26 September
Where: South Australian Museum, North Terrace, Adelaide
Time: 12pm and 1.30pm
